Almost Astraea.

Dear Reader,

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving here in the USA. It seems fitting that the first day of Advent is a day of gratitude. I have been struggling with seasonal affective disorder which causes depression during the autumn and winter months (and for me into the beginning of spring). While on the Julian calendar, winter does not begin until the solstice, in the Filianic calendar it begins on the 28th of November for the northern hemisphere, which happens to be the first day of the month of Astraea and the first day of Advent.

I am an anxious mess over the holidays and every advertisement about Black Friday (a major shopping day here in the USA that might as well be considered an unofficial public holiday) and each bit of Christmas music ratchets that anxiety up higher. My silence over the last month has been due to a combination of S.A.D. (even the acronym for this condition sucks) and my attempting to write a novel in a month. I'm going to attempt to post more here over the winter months but the posts may look like this.
